Production of neutron-rich N=126 nuclei in multinucleon transfer reactions: Comparison between 136Xe+198Pt and 238U+198Pt reactions

K. Zhao et al.

Summary: The study found that the production cross sections for n-rich N=126 residual fragments are several times larger in the U-238 + Pt-198 reaction system than in the Xe-136 + Pt-198 system due to larger cross sections and lower excitation energies of primary fragments. In both systems, N=126 semi-magic residues are produced via neutron emission in the decay of primary fragments, surviving in semi-central collisions with lower excitation energies.

Shell inhibition on production of N=126 isotones in multinucleon transfer reactions

Long Zhu

Summary: The study quantitatively evaluated the impact of relative shell inhibition on the production cross sections of N=126 isotones for the first time, indicating that combinations characterized by double closed shell structure are unfavorable for producing unknown N=126 isotones. The effects of shell structure on production cross sections are mainly from the de-excitation process.

Rate of decline of the production cross section of superheavy nuclei with Z=114-117 at high excitation energies

J. Hong et al.

Summary: This study predicts the production of superheavy nuclei with charge numbers 114-117 in future experiments through Ca-48-induced complete fusion reactions, based on a uniform set of nuclear data. The research discusses the contributions of various factors to the final production cross section, and reveals that the specific interplay between survival and fusion probabilities leads to a relatively slow decline in total cross sections with increasing excitation energy.

Formation of heavy neutron-rich nuclei by Ca-48-induced multinucleon transfer reactions

Zhi Cheng et al.

Summary: The improved dinuclear system model is effective in describing the isotopic distributions of the Ca-48 + U-238 reaction, while only partially successful in the Ca-48 + Cm-248 reaction. Experimental and theoretical data from multinucleon transfer reactions suggest that the isotopic distributions of the Ca-48 + U-238 reaction system are shifted towards the neutron-rich side above Pb compared to the Xe-136 + Pb-208 reaction, except for the isotopic distribution of Bi.
