Frequency comb generation in a pulse-pumped normal dispersion Kerr mini-resonator

Yiqing Xu et al.

Summary: Researchers demonstrate that Kerr microresonators driven by pulsed pump sources no longer require localized dispersion perturbations to initiate the formation of optical frequency combs. By controlling the desynchronization between the pump repetition rate and the cavity free-spectral range, they can tune the center frequency of the output comb. Additionally, under large pump-cavity desynchronization, a new form of Raman-assisted anomalous dispersion cavity soliton is supported.

Chirped dissipative solitons in driven optical resonators

Christopher Spiess et al.

Summary: Solitons are self-sustaining particle-like wave packets found throughout nature. A new class of optical solitons with pulses characterized by large and positive chirp in normal dispersion resonators with strong spectral filtering is introduced. Numerical simulations and experimental observations show stable waveforms, including dissipative solitons characterized by large frequency chirp, with potential applications in spectroscopy, communications, and metrology.

Dissipative soliton interaction in Kerr resonators with high-order dispersion

A. G. Vladimirov et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction of dissipative solitons in an optical resonator with a photonic crystal fiber, using a generalized Lugiato-Lefever equation with fourth-order dispersion. The results show that positive fourth-order dispersion leads to increased interaction force between solitons and stabilizes multiple equidistant soliton bound states in the phase space. Additionally, spectral filtering, even at a small level, can reduce Cherenkov radiation at the soliton tails, weaken the interaction strength, and impact the stability of bound states.

Theory of filter-induced modulation instability in driven passive optical resonators

Auro M. Perego et al.

Summary: The theory of modulation instability induced by spectrally dependent losses in passive driven nonlinear fiber ring resonators is presented in this study. A mean-field model, a generalized Lugiato-Lefever equation, is derived accurately predicting the results of the Ikeda map. The effects of dispersion, cavity detuning, filter spectral position, and bandwidth on instability gain and comb generation are discussed.

Influence of stimulated Raman scattering on Kerr domain walls and localized structures

P. Parra-Rivas et al.

Summary: This study investigates the formation of bright and dark localized states in all-fiber resonators subject to stimulated Raman scattering under coherent optical injection. The Raman scattering breaks the reflection symmetry of the system and modifies the dynamics, stability, and locking of domain walls. This leads to the formation of both dark and bright moving localized states that are otherwise absent.
