Validation of Landsat land surface temperature product in the conterminous United States using in situ measurements from SURFRAD, ARM, and NDBC sites

Summary: This study validated Landsat 5, 7, and 8 land surface temperature products in the conterminous United States from 2009 to 2019 using in situ measurements. The results showed consistent performance among the three sensors, but large biases were observed at vegetated sites due to incorrect land surface emissivity estimation.

Temperature-Based and Radiance-Based Validation of the Collection 6 MYD11 and MYD21 Land Surface Temperature Products Over Barren Surfaces in Northwestern China

Summary: In this study, two MODIS land surface temperature products were evaluated using temperature-based and radiance-based methods over barren surfaces and sand dunes in Northwestern China. The results showed that the C6 MYD21 LST product has better accuracy and consistency than the C6 MYD11 product, especially in sand dune areas.
