Catalyst design for maximizing C5+ yields during Fischer-Tropsch synthesis

Janardhan L. Hodala et al.

Summary: The FT process has great potential for energy security and utilizing greenhouse gases. The formation of hydrocarbons in the process can be controlled by catalyst selection and active metal support interactions. The ratio of syn-gas is crucial for desired conversion and selectivity towards C5+ products, with support playing a significant role in product distribution and CO conversion.

Promotion effects of halloysite nanotubes on catalytic activity of Co3O4 nanoparticles toward reduction of 4-nitrophenol and organic dyes

Min Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that halloysite nanotubes affected the particle size and surface chemical states of Co3O4 nanoparticles, thereby promoting the effective catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and azo dyes. The Co3O4/HNTs catalyst showed significant rate constants and activity parameters for 4-NP reduction, as well as improved efficiency in reducing azo dyes.

Summary: A high-yield synthesis method for gold (Au) nanosheets with tunable size and surface morphology in the aqueous phase is reported. The produced nanosheets exhibit random in-plane branches or holes, along with wavy edges, and show strong absorbance in the NIR region. When used as electrocatalysts for the ethanol oxidation reaction, the nanosheets demonstrate enhanced activity and operation stability compared to quasi-spherical counterparts.

Synthesis of highly porous polymer microspheres with interconnected open pores for catalytic microreactors

Dae Hwan Kim et al.

Summary: A simple method for producing highly porous polystyrene (PS) microspheres with interconnective open pores was proposed by dispersing PS seed particles in an oil-in-water emulsion system. The study systematically investigated the morphological changes of PS microspheres in different oil-in-water emulsions, and identified the best system for synthesizing highly porous PS microspheres. These porous microspheres showed promising potential as a supporting material for catalysis applications, with high porosity, large surface area, and good chemical stability.

One-step green synthesis of 2D Ag-dendrite-embedded biopolymer hydrogel beads as a catalytic reactor

Jae Hwan Jeong et al.

Summary: This study presents a simple water-based green method for producing biopolymer hydrogel beads embedded with silver dendrites without the use of additional reducing agents, stabilizers, or crosslinking agents. The obtained silver dendrites exhibit a unique two-dimensional structure formed on the surface of solid-phase hydrogel beads through reduction and crystal growth. Mechanisms for the formation of the nanocomposite hydrogel beads and 2D silver dendrites in the hydrogel are proposed based on observations and results.
