2D nonlinear and non-Hertzian gear teeth deflection model for static transmission error calculation

Fabio Bruzzone et al.

Summary: The paper establishes a bi-dimensional approach to model deflection and load sharing characteristics of engaging teeth in spur gear transmission under quasi-static conditions. A semi-analytical model is used to obtain tooth deformations and stiffness, while a numerical non-Hertzian contact mechanics model is employed to analyze surface displacements and pressure distributions. Results are shown in terms of static transmission error, load sharing, and contact pressure distributions.
