Novel paper-based sensing platform using photoluminescent gold nanoclusters for easy, sensitive and selective naked-eye detection of Cu2+

Alexandru-Milentie Hada et al.

Summary: A novel, portable sensing platform based on BSA-AuNCs was developed for fast, selective detection of Cu2+ in water samples with the ability for naked-eye detection. By combining the sensing properties of BSA-AuNCs with paper substrates, a user-friendly sensor was successfully developed for the detection of Cu2+ in various water samples.

Folic acid functionalized gold nanoclusters for enabling targeted fluorescence imaging of human ovarian cancer cells

Alexandru-Milentie Hada et al.

Summary: The developed bovine serum albumin stabilized gold nanoclusters (BSA-AuNCs) with intrinsic tunable photoluminescence emission were functionalized with folic acid (FA-BSA-AuNCs) for active targeting of specific cancer cells, showing potential for bioimaging applications. Their valuable intrinsic photoluminescent properties make the synthesized FA-BSAAuNCs promising for direct application in cellular imaging as efficient contrast agents towards early cancer diagnosis and image-guided therapy of cancer.

One-photon excited photoluminescence of gold nanospheres and its application in prostate specific antigen detection via fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS)

Ana-Maria Craciun et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the PL properties of different-sized gold nanospheres under one-photon excitation and developed a sensitive homogeneous immunoassay for the detection of PSA. The study showed the potential of synthesized AuNSs as fluorescent probes in bioimaging and bioassays, successfully demonstrating the use of 1PE PL for FCS-based label-free detection of PSA biomarker.
