Efficient antibacterial/biofilm, anti-cancer and photocatalytic potential of titanium dioxide nanocatalysts green synthesised using Gloriosa superba rhizome extract

D. Mahendran et al.

Summary: The biomolecule-coated nanotitania catalysts showed potential antibacterial and anticancer activity, as well as excellent photocatalytic properties. The synthesized nanocatalysts demonstrated efficient anti-biofilm activity against harmful microbial human pathogens, with specific activity against gram negative bacterium including Staphylococcus epidermidis. Additionally, the nanotitania catalysts exhibited significant DNA destruction in cancer cells and maximum rate of dye degradation for crystal violet. This suggests the potential multifaceted applications of the biomolecule-coated nanotitania catalysts in biomedical and photocatalytic fields.
