Quench Dynamics of a Fermi Gas with Strong Nonlocal Interactions

Elmer Guardado-Sanchez et al.

Summary: We induce strong nonlocal interactions in a 2D Fermi gas in an optical lattice using Rydberg dressing, measure the interactions, and study the lifetime of the gas in the presence of tunneling, finding that tunneling does not reduce the lifetime. Investigating the interplay of nonlocal interactions with tunneling, we find that strong nearest-neighbor interactions slow down the relaxation dynamics of charge-density waves in the gas. Our work opens the door for quantum simulations of systems with strong nonlocal interactions such as extended Fermi-Hubbard models.

Connecting topological Anderson and Mott insulators in disordered interacting fermionic systems

Guo-Qing Zhang et al.

Summary: In a specific system, it has been discovered that topological Anderson and Mott insulators can be transformed into each other without gap closing, revealing the existence of disordered correlated topological insulators as a significant advancement towards understanding many-body interacting regimes.

Photoinduced anomalous Hall effect in the interacting Haldane model: Targeting topological states with pump pulses

Can Shao et al.

Summary: Using a numerical method, the nonequilibrium dynamics of the spinless Haldane model on the honeycomb lattice was investigated, revealing a topologically nontrivial excited state near the level crossing of the lowest energy levels. Through resonant energy excitation via ultrafast circularly polarized pump pulse, a nonvanishing Hall response was observed in the system.

Interplay of local order and topology in the extended Haldane-Hubbard model

Can Shao et al.

Summary: The study reveals the ground-state phase diagram of the spinful extended Haldane-Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice, showing two types of insulators with finite local order parameters and a topologically nontrivial insulator with nonlocal order. It confirms that once a local order parameter is formed, the topological characteristics of the ground state associated with a finite Chern number are no longer present, resulting in a topologically trivial wave function.
