A newly developed corner smoothing methodology based on clothoid splines for machine tools

Summary: A novel smoothing method based on a clothoid pair is proposed to synchronously plan geometry blending and speed scheduling, with spline parameters arc-length-parameterized. This method eliminates feedrate fluctuation and avoids overlarge contour deviation produced by corner smoothing. Additionally, real-time interpolation scheduling is developed to overcome difficulties between linear and parametric segments, achieving smoother motion and higher contour accuracy.
