Construction of Nanocrystalline Cellulose-Based Composite Fiber Films with Excellent Porosity Performances via an Electrospinning Strategy

Lei Ge et al.

Summary: Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) are used as a reinforcing agent in polymer composites due to their environmental protection characteristics and nanocharacteristics. In this study, large-porosity composite nanofiber films were prepared using KH550-modified CNCs, PVAL, and WPU. The effects of CNC content, spinning voltage, curing distance, and advancing speed on the morphology and performance of the composite fibers were investigated, with the optimal conditions resulting in a composite fiber film with regular morphology and good spinnability.

Determination of mechanical properties of polymer matrix composites reinforced with electrospinning N66, PAN, PVA and PVC nanofibers: A comparative study

Emin Uslu et al.

Summary: This study focused on the production and mechanical properties of two-phase polymer matrix composites reinforced with various types of thermoplastic nanofibers. The best mechanical properties were obtained from N66 nanofiber composite, while PVA nanofiber composite showed the highest Young's modulus. The polymer type significantly affected the composite performance, with N66 composite being more stable and reproducible compared to other specimens.

Electrospinning of small diameter vascular grafts with preferential fiber directions and comparison of their mechanical behavior with native rat aortas

Christian Grasl et al.

Summary: Controlling the fiber orientation during electrospinning of vascular grafts can impact the resulting biomechanical properties, with circumferentially oriented grafts showing increased tensile force. The preferred fiber directions may not fully mimic the mechanical characteristics of native blood vessels, but can influence the scaffold porosity and compliance of the grafts.

Damping characteristics of carbon nanotube reinforced epoxy nanocomposite beams

Shengqi Pan et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the damping characteristics of carbon nanotube reinforced epoxy nanocomposite beams, proposing a modified Biot model for simulation and implementing it into a finite element model. The comparison between theoretical and experimental results shows the improved accuracy of the modified Biot model, with the damping ratios of composite beam specimens fluctuating with the increment of CNT weight ratio.
