Opening Magnetic Hysteresis by Axial Ferromagnetic Coupling: From Mono-Decker to Double-Decker Metallacrown

Jin Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a Dy[15-MCCu-5] (1-Dy) single-molecule magnet (SMM) and a double-decker {Dy[15-MCCu-5]}(2) (2-Dy) SMM were reported. The anisotropy axes of the two Dy-III ions in 2-Dy are nearly collinear, resulting in significantly slower magnetic relaxation times compared to 1-Dy. These complexes exhibit three distinct exponential regimes in their relaxation profiles and hold the largest effective energy barriers among reported d-f SMMs, up to 625 cm(-1).

Field-induced oscillation of magnetization blocking barrier in a holmium metallacrown single-molecule magnet

Si-Guo Wu et al.

Summary: Single-molecule magnets exhibit magnetization blocking with strong magnetic anisotropy, which can be modified through molecular engineering and highlighted by hyperfine coupling. Poor understanding of relaxation mechanisms limits the exploitation of nuclear-spin molecular qubits. This study demonstrates the field-dependent oscillation of magnetization blocking barrier in a holmium metallacrown magnet, driven by the switch of relaxation mechanism involving hyperfine interaction.

Tuning magnetic anisotropy via terminal ligands along the DyDy orientation in novel centrosymmetric [Dy2] single molecule magnets

Ming Kong et al.

Summary: Four Dy-III complexes were synthesized and studied for their magnetic properties, revealing them to behave as single-molecule magnets with high energy barriers. The orientation of the magnetic axis and the terminal ligands around the Dy-III ions play crucial roles in tuning the magnetic anisotropy and properties of the complexes.

Slow magnetic relaxation in dinuclear dysprosium and holmium phenoxide bridged complexes: a Dy2 single molecule magnet with a high energy barrier

Matilde Fondo et al.

Summary: Dinuclear complexes [M(H3L1,2,4)](2) (M = Dy, Dy-2; M = Ho, Ho-2) were isolated from a heptadentate aminophenol ligand, with the dysprosium complex showing the largest energy barrier to date for this type of double phenoxide-bridged complexes. The holmium complex exhibits frequency-dependence but does not display field-induced SMM behavior above 2 K. Ab initio calculations were used to understand the magnetic properties of the complexes, which supported the experimental magnetic results.

Magnetic investigation in di- and tetranuclear lanthanide complexes

Jianfeng Wu et al.

Summary: The use of a crab-like hydrazone ligand led to the isolation of dinuclear and tetranuclear dysprosium-based complexes Dy-2 and Dy-4. Magnetic investigations revealed that Dy-2 exhibited typical single-molecule magnet behavior, while Dy-4 had a diamagnetic ground state. The magnetic anisotropies and couplings were confirmed by ab initio calculations.
