Minimum quantity lubrication machining of aeronautical materials using carbon group nanolubricant: From mechanisms to application

Xin Cui et al.

Summary: Replacing flood and dry machining with minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) technology is an inevitable trend of sustainable manufacturing. However, MQL cannot meet the high demand for cooling and lubrication in the machining of aeronautical difficult-to-machine materials. This study focuses on the comprehensive quantitative assessment of tribological characteristics in titanium alloy and nickel alloy machining using nano-biolubricants, specifically non-toxic carbon group nano-enhancers (CGNs), aiming to systematically answer the machining mechanisms under lubrication of CGNs.

Eco-Friendly Cutting Fluids in Minimum Quantity Lubrication Assisted Machining: A Review on the Perception of Sustainable Manufacturing

Binayak Sen et al.

Summary: This paper summarizes previous research articles on minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) assisted machining, highlighting the shift towards sustainability that prompts researchers to reconsider the effects of different lubrication methods on machining. Recent studies suggest that the use of vegetable oil, nanofluids, and nanoplatelets in MQL system outperforms traditional lubrication technology in terms of machining performance. These findings demonstrate the environmentally friendly nature of MQL technology as a viable alternative to flood lubrication.

Milling surface roughness for 7050 aluminum alloy cavity influenced by nozzle position of nanofluid minimum quantity lubrication

Zhenjing Duan et al.

Summary: In NMQL milling of aviation aluminum alloy, adjusting the nozzle position parameters is crucial but challenging due to large errors. The study revealed the impact of cutter speed, helical angle, and cavity shape on the flow field, leading to optimal nozzle profile parameters. The results showed that the proper combination of target distance, incidence angle, and elevation angle significantly improved surface roughness, with target distance having the most substantial impact on cutting performance.

Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient Model Under Nanofluid Minimum Quantity Lubrication Coupled with Cryogenic Air Grinding Ti-6Al-4V

Jianchao Zhang et al.

Summary: A new environmentally sustainable approach, CNMQL, is proposed to address the unfavorable lubricating characteristic of cryogenic air and the deficient cooling performance of minimum quantity lubrication. A convective heat transfer coefficient model was established to investigate the heat transfer mechanism of vortex tube cold air fraction by CNMQL. Experimental verification showed that when the cold air fraction was 0.35, nanofluids exhibited low specific grinding energy, high viscosity, and a large contact angle.

Consequence of aging at Au/HTM/perovskite interface in triple cation 3D and 2D/3D hybrid perovskite solar cells

Zubair Ahmad et al.

Summary: Perovskite solar cells show great promise as an alternative to traditional photovoltaic technologies, with 2D/3D hybrid cells offering improved stability and efficiency. However, further research is needed on the degradation processes and charge dynamics at interfaces to enhance long-term performance. Analysis of the Au/HTM/perovskite interface degradation suggests it significantly impacts charge accumulation and impedance, leading to efficiency loss.

Summary: Research found that palm oil showed the best lubrication effect among different vegetable oils, achieving the lowest milling force, friction coefficient, and surface roughness values, resulting in the smoothest workpiece surface. Analysis revealed that palm oil, with a high content of saturated fatty acids, high viscosity, and small contact angle, could form the strongest lubricating oil film at the tool-workpiece interface.
