Origin of the complex Raman tensor elements in single-layer triclinic ReSe2

Geovani C. Resende et al.

Summary: In this study, angle-dependent polarized Raman spectroscopy was used to investigate a single-layer triclinic ReSe2, revealing the physical origin of the complex nature of the Raman tensor elements through a new coordinate system. This understanding contributes to the development of new optoelectronic devices based on low-symmetry 2D materials by exploring electron-phonon coupling anisotropy.

Tunable anisotropy in ReS2 flakes achieved by Ar+ ion bombardment probed by polarized Raman spectroscopy

Jing Yu et al.

Summary: Ion bombardment is used to treat ReS2 flakes with different thicknesses and defect densities, revealing that 1L ReS2 is most susceptible to ion bombardment and shows the highest anisotropy change. The increase in defect density in 1L ReS2 leads to a higher Imin/Imax value, demonstrating a quantitative relationship between defect density and anisotropy. The study provides insights into quantitatively understanding anisotropy and tuning anisotropy in two-dimensional anisotropic materials through ion bombardments and polarized Raman spectroscopy.
