Entangling the vibrational modes of two massive ferromagnetic spheres using cavity magnomechanics

Jie Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a scheme is proposed to entangle the vibrational phonon modes of two massive ferromagnetic spheres in a dual-cavity magnomechanical system. By directly driving the magnon mode with a red-detuned microwave field, a cavity-magnon-phonon state-swap interaction can be realized, leading to the remote entanglement of the two ferromagnetic spheres. This work demonstrates that cavity magnomechanical systems enable the preparation of quantum entangled states at a larger scale than currently possible with other schemes.

Optomechanical quantum teleportation

Niccolo Fiaschi et al.

Summary: Quantum teleportation is essential for long-distance quantum communication and distributed quantum computing, while high-frequency nano-optomechanical systems show great potential as nodes in future quantum networks. This research successfully demonstrates teleportation of an optical input state onto the joint state of a pair of nanomechanical resonators, showcasing the full functionality of a single quantum repeater node and marking a key milestone towards applications of optomechanical systems as quantum network nodes.

Cavity magnomechanical storage and retrieval of quantum states

Bijita Sarma et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the transfer and storage of quantum states from a microwave cavity mode to a phononic mode through an intermediate magnon mode in a magnomechanical system. By modulating detunings and driving magnon modes, coherent transfer between cavity and phonon modes can be achieved, offering a possibility of using magnomechanical systems as quantum memory for photonic quantum information.

Direct observation of deterministic macroscopic entanglement

Shlomi Kotler et al.

Summary: In this study, two mechanical drumheads with masses of 70 picograms were deterministically entangled using pulsed electromechanics. Quantum state tomography was performed through nearly quantum-limited measurements, allowing for the direct observation of entanglement. These entangled macroscopic systems are expected to be used in fundamental tests of quantum mechanics, enable sensing beyond the standard quantum limit, and function as long-lived nodes in future quantum networks.

Dynamical Backaction Magnomechanics

C. A. Potts et al.

Summary: Dynamical backaction from radiation pressure in optomechanical systems can manipulate mechanical vibrations, such as cooling resonators, driving phonon lasing, generating entangled states, and observing the optical-spring effect. In some magnetic materials, magnon-induced dynamical backaction interacts with mechanical vibrations. These effects may play a crucial role in future experimental work.

Remote magnon entanglement between two massive ferrimagnetic spheres via cavity optomagnonics

Wei-Jiang Wu et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that hybrid quantum systems based on magnonics can generate macroscopic quantum states involving a large number of spins, with the entanglement of magnon modes in massive YIG spheres demonstrated using cavity optomagnonics. The proposal relies on the asymmetry of the Stokes and anti-Stokes sidebands generated by magnon-induced Brillouin light scattering, showing promise for preparing macroscopic quantum states.

Single-quadrature quantum magnetometry in cavity electromagnonics

M. S. Ebrahimi et al.

Summary: A scheme for an ultrasensitive magnetometer in cavity quantum electromagnonics has been proposed, which reduces noise in magnetic field measurements below the standard quantum limit by driving magnonic and microwave modes with external classical fields and controlling system parameters. Beyond the rotating wave approximation, the added noise is suppressed and cavity response to the input signal is amplified for precise magnetic field measurements. The theoretical sensitivity of the proposed magnetic amplifier-sensor is competitive with current state-of-the-art magnetometers like SQUIDs and atomic magnetometers, offering advantages such as high sensitivity at room temperature, wide frequency range sensing up to MHz, and signal-response amplification.

Magnon-assisted photon-phonon conversion in the presence of structured environments

Shi-fan Qi et al.

Summary: The study proposes a photon-phonon conversion protocol in a hybrid magnomechanical system, utilizing interactions between photons, magnons, and phonons. Evaluation of conversion fidelity by examining leakages and non-Markovian noise shows robustness of state evolution fidelity to weak leakages and insensitivity of transfer fidelity to environmental types.
