Visualizing Nonlinear Phononics in Layered ReSe2

Junhong Yu et al.

Summary: Research demonstrates that nonlinear phononics can be achieved through the electronic route, in addition to introducing nonlinearity via ionic Raman scattering. By using coherent phonon spectroscopy with a pump energy larger than the band gap in layered ReSe2, nonlinear coupling between Raman-active phonons was observed.

Unveiling the hybridization process in a quantum critical ferromagnet by ultrafast optical spectroscopy

Y. H. Pei et al.

Summary: CeRh6Ge4 is a quantum critical ferromagnet, and the hybridization between localized f moments and conduction electrons shows a two-stage development with lowering temperature. In addition to observing hybridization fluctuation, the emergence of collective hybridization below the coherence temperature is observed, along with three coherent phonon modes softened anomalously below the coherence temperature, reflecting their coupling with emergent coherent heavy electrons. Our findings establish the universal nature of fluctuation and coherence during the hybridization process in heavy fermion systems.
