Long-term optical transmittance measurements of silica nanofibers

Summary: Through long-term measurements, it was found that the rate of decrease in optical transmittance of nanofibers varies significantly in different environments, with a lower rate in an airtight environment. The length of the nanofibers did not show a significant difference in degradation rate. These results are important for predicting future optical transmittance values.

Laser-Induced Damage in Silica Nanofibers in Air and Immersed in Different Liquids in the Nanosecond Regime

Summary: This study presents Laser-Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT) measurements of silica nanofibers in different media for the first time, showing a significant enhancement in LIDT when immersed in liquids, especially water. This property of enhancing LIDT by immersing nanofibers in liquids opens up new possibilities for expanding the applications of nanofibers, particularly in cases requiring high peak powers.
