Development of an irradiance-based weather derivative to hedge cloud risk for solar energy systems

Summary: This paper explores the utility of a weather derivative based on irradiance in mitigating cloud weather risk and measures its effectiveness through a case study of two Chilean copper mines. Results show that the derivatives are effective in cloudier climates, with increasing utility for mines installing solar energy systems until 2030.

In the second phase, it was observed that maximum shoot length, biomass, phosphorous uptake, and rice grain protein content were achieved under the application of 500 mg kg(-1) TiO(2)NPs through irrigation method combined with 40 mg P kg(-1).
