Ab Initio Limits of Atomic Nuclei

S. R. Stroberg et al.

Summary: This study predicts the limits of existence of atomic nuclei, the proton and neutron drip lines, by utilizing a chiral nucleon interaction and in-medium similarity renormalization group calculations for nearly 700 isotopes. Experimental data confirms that the predictions are consistent with the theoretical uncertainties where the drip lines are known. Predictions for neutron-rich isotopes are provided for testing at rare-isotope beam facilities.

Resonances of A=4 T=1 isospin triplet states within the ab initio no-core Gamow shell model

J. G. Li et al.

Summary: The A = 4 nuclei, including H-4, He-4, and Li-4, establish an interesting isospin T = 1 isobaric system. While H-4 and Li-4 are unbound broad resonances, He-4 is deeply bound in its ground state but unbound in all its excited states. Calculations show that the three nuclei are indeed broad resonances, consistent with experimental observations. Furthermore, the study includes isospin symmetry breaking effects in the T = 1 isospin triplet formed by He-4's excited state and H-4 and Li-4's ground states.

Reexamining the variational two-particle reduced density matrix for nuclear systems

J. G. Li et al.

Summary: In the field of nuclear physics, the variational two-particle reduced density matrix method has been found to be problematic due to overbinding issues, particularly in systems with both neutrons and protons. However, it shows promise in providing accurate descriptions for nuclear systems with only valence neutrons. Further research is needed to address the discrepancies and find solutions to improve the accuracy of this method for all types of nuclear systems.

Proton decays in 16Ne and 18Mg and isospin-symmetry breaking in carbon isotopes and isotones

N. Michel et al.

Summary: This study conducted theoretical calculations using the Gamow shell model on carbon isotones with A = 15-18, revealing complex patterns in isospin multiplets generated by continuum coupling and Coulomb interaction at drip lines. The widths of one-proton and two-proton emissions for Ne-16 and Mg-18 have also been determined.

Unbound spectra of neutron-rich oxygen isotopes predicted by the Gamow shell model

J. G. Li et al.

Summary: The Gamow shell model efficiently describes weakly bound and unbound nuclear systems, as demonstrated in this study on neutron-dripline oxygen isotopes. Continuum coupling is found to be important for describing the isotopes, especially O-28, and predicting weakly bound and resonance excited states. The radial properties of the studied many-body states are clearly depicted through one-body density analysis.
