Maximizing spin-orbit torque efficiency of Ta(O)/Py via modulating oxygen-induced interface orbital hybridization

Liupeng Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, the efficiency of spin-orbit torque generated by interfacial Rashba and spin Hall effects in Ta(O)/Ni81Fe19 bilayers was found to reach maximum values at a certain level of oxidation. Oxygen-induced orbital hybridization across the interface can significantly enhance the efficiency of interfacial spin-orbit torque, suggesting it as an alternative method to boost spin conversion efficiency.

Effects of Interfacial Oxidization on Magnetic Damping and Spin-Orbit Torques

DongJoon Lee et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of interfacial oxidation on perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, magnetic damping, and spin-orbit torques in heavy-metal/ferromagnet/capping structures. The choice of capping material influences the surface magnetic anisotropy energy density and affects the magnetic damping parameter, with Co being more significantly influenced than NiFe. Additionally, the efficiencies of antidamping and field-like spin-orbit torques were observed to vary with different capping materials.
