A facile photo-irradiation method is developed to tune active sites over beta-Ni(OH)(2) nanosheets. Photo-irradiated beta-Ni(OH)(2) nanosheets possess disordered surface atoms and preferred growth of highly active crystal facets, which exhibit enhanced performance for the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction.
