The Mesozoic magmatic, metamorphic, and tectonic evolution of the eastern Gangdese magmatic arc, southern Tibet

Ze-Ming Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the formation and evolution processes of the Gangdese arc in southern Tibet through the study of Mesozoic magmatic rocks. The arc experienced different tectonic, magmatic, and metamorphic evolution stages, including normal subduction, shallow subduction, mid-oceanic ridge subduction, and flat subduction.

Early Cenozoic partial melting of meta-sedimentary rocks of the eastern Gangdese arc, southern Tibet, and its contribution to syn-collisional magmatism

Yuan-Yuan Jiang et al.

Summary: This study of migmatitic paragneisses in the eastern Gangdese magmatic arc in southern Tibet reveals that the meta-sedimentary rocks in the deep crust have Late Carboniferous protolith ages and record northwestward-decreasing metamorphic conditions. The mixing of mantle-derived melts, juvenile lower crust, and ancient crustal materials has enriched the isotopic composition of the syn-collisional magmatic rocks, suggesting crustal shortening and underthrusting during the Indo-Asian collision transported supracrustal rocks to the deep crust.

Late Cretaceous hydrous melting and reworking of juvenile lower crust of the eastern Gangdese magmatic arc, southern Tibet

Huixia Ding et al.

Summary: Systematic petrologic, geochemical, and geochronologic data of amphibole-bearing anorthosite and diorite from the Gangdese arc in southern Tibet were reported. The rocks are believed to be derived from hydrous anatexis of the early Late Cretaceous juvenile lower crust, indicating the significant role of subduction and dehydration in the thickening and evolution of the Gangdese arc's lower crust.

GeoPS: An interactive visual computing tool for thermodynamic modelling of phase equilibria

Hua Xiang et al.

Summary: GeoPS is a program that enables the calculation of stable phase relations throughout the mantle and crust of terrestrial planets, with a wide range of phase equilibrium calculations and an intuitive graphical user interface. The novel Gibbs energy minimization algorithm in GeoPS provides robust and efficient solution to the phase equilibrium problem.
