This article poses sociological reflections based on biographical narratives of subjects who had their bodies transformed due to injuries acquired through an unforeseen event. The research identifies that these subjects created successfulness oriented discourses linked to the idea of a productive and prosperous individual, in a society crossed by values of the self-help culture. In this sense, the study presents perspectives that tension generalist and normative beliefs about the ways in which subjects experience their corporeality.
