Using syndemic theory to understand food insecurity and diet-related chronic diseases

Summary: This article reviews the syndemic between food insecurity and diet-related chronic diseases and proposes a model to measure the extent of their interaction. By incorporating Life History Theory, the proposed model aims to highlight critical life periods when the interaction between food insecurity and diet-related chronic diseases result in adverse health outcomes. Given the global increase in food insecurity due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this model is particularly relevant.

The Impact of COVID-19 Stay-At-Home Orders on Health Behaviors in Adults

Summary: The study found that the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted lifestyle changes across different BMI classifications. During the pandemic, individuals tended to have healthier eating habits, reduced dining out, and increased cooking.
