Extensive studies show that active sites are associated with specific facets in gamma- and eta-alumina phase, with an EPR signature attributed to species having a tri-coordinated T-shape geometry. Overall, the selective conversion of methane to methanol involves two monomeric Cu-II sites playing in concert.
