Summary: A cryogenic 22-pole ion trap apparatus is utilized with a table-top pulsed IR source to investigate weakly bound CH+-He and CH+-He-4 complexes through predissociation spectroscopy at 4 K. The infrared photodissociation spectra reveal distinct molecular structures for each complex.

Cleaning dielectric surfaces by the electrical fields of the linear electrodynamic Paul trap

R. A. Syrovatka et al.

Summary: A method using alternating electric fields generated by linear electrodynamic Paul traps has been proposed for removing dust from dielectric surfaces. The captured dust can be moved without contact with the surface and experiments demonstrated high cleaning rates for various particle sizes. The technique was also analyzed using numerical simulations to determine the conditions for capturing and levitating a single particle.

Determination and control of ion parameters in a complex plasma of a DC discharge

Summary: Complex plasmas, consisting of low-pressure DC discharge plasma and charged microparticles, can trap ions. While ions and electrons are lost on the surfaces of microparticles, the interaction between discharge plasma and dust cloud generally leads to an increase in ion density.
