This paper proposes an ultra-wideband multi-port antenna for IEEE 802.15.6 access point in Fifth Generation (5G) based E-Health applications, featuring wideband characteristics and excellent isolation performance. The antenna has elliptical polarization at 7.5 GHz, omnidirectional radiation pattern, and is suitable for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) Access Point (AP) antenna use.
In this paper an ultra-wideband (UWB) multi-port antenna for IEEE 802.15.6 access point in Fifth Generation (5G) based E-Health applications is proposed. The multi-port antenna consists of a Koch fractal trapezoidal monopole placed symmetrically and with band reject property of IEEE 802.11ac high band (4.8-5 GHz). An integration of Slotted Meander Line Resonator (SMLR) and Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) construction is utilized aimed at minimizing the mutual coupling for perked up isolation. The antenna shows wideband characteristics with return loss of -10 dB and display a mutual coupling of -17 dB in the UWB range. The antenna has elliptical polarization at 7.5 GHz and has omnidirectional radiation pattern. The performance characteristics of the proposed antenna enables it to be used as a Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) Access Point (AP) antenna for E-Heath application in Fifth Generation (5G) networks. The antenna provides excellent diversity characteristics with near zero envelope correlation coefficient, fractional bandwidth of 109.48% and reduced capacity loss of 0.248.
