Visible light communication (VLC) is gaining popularity due to its attractive features, with VI,C receivers receiving increasing research interest. This paper proposes a VI,C receiver design using an active inductor-based peaking technique to enhance modulation bandwidth. By employing this technique, a receiver with higher bandwidth and performance can be achieved.
Visible light communication (VLC) is becoming a popular technology for its attractive features of electromagnetic interference free, high-bandwidth, high security, and license-free operation. VI,C receivers are getting a favorable amount of research interest as it is more convenient to manipulate low power signals than the large current signals in VLC transmitter. In this paper, a VI,C receiver design is proposed, which uses an activeinductor-based peaking technique to enhance the modulation bandwidth of the receiver for various VLC applications. By employing the peaking technique, a -3 dB bandwidth of SO MHz is achieved with 94 dB Omega of total transimpedance gain. The whole receiver consumes 3.2 mW of power consumption, which reduces to similar to 1.2 mW if the power consumed due to the termination resistor of 50 Omega is ignored. The ambient light rejection capability of the proposed design is 70 mu A.
