Silver nanoparticles have been prepared and shown to efficiently catalyze the one-pot, three-component reaction of 2-naphthol, aldehydes, and acetamide at reflux, to afford the corresponding 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols at high yield. The present method has several advantages such as high yields, easy purification, mild reaction conditions, easy work-up, survival of different functional groups, and short reaction times.
