The paper discusses the modeling, parameterization, and linearization process of large-scale heat pumps as potential providers of ancillary services, with three feasible combinations of model parameters identified and tested. Results demonstrate how each combination represents the inherent dynamics of large-scale heat pumps.
Dynamic and linearized models of components allows detailed studies of their integration in to the electric power system. With power-to-X technologies as potential providers of ancillary services, models of such technology must be available for a broad research community. This paper therefore describes the modeling, parameterization and linearization process for representing a large-scale heat pump (HP) as potential provider of ancillary services. With a heuristic parameterization approach, three feasible combinations of model parameters are identified and tested. Results show how each of the three combinations represent large-scale heat pumps consider the inherent dynamics.
