Metals in mine wastes: environmental pollution and soil remediation approaches - a review

Summary: Millions of hectares in Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and America are contaminated by mine wastes, posing serious dangers to humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms. Remediation techniques, including biological methods like phytoremediation, are considered as the future solution for cleaning contaminated sites. Metal contamination and its effects on living organisms as well as remediation techniques are discussed in the review.
