The impact of irrigated agriculture on child nutrition outcomes in southern Ghana

Charles Y. Okyere et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of irrigated agriculture on child nutrition outcomes among farm households in southern Ghana. Children living in irrigated households have higher weight-for-age and weight-for-height ratios. Different types of irrigation have different impacts on child nutrition, with improvements seen in households planting on riverbeds or riverbanks. Analysis of underlying pathways suggests that healthcare financing and environmental quality improvements may be crucial channels for improved child nutrition.
