Diagnostic Feature Training Improves Face Matching Accuracy

Alice Towler et al.

Summary: Training novices to focus on diagnostic facial features such as ears and facial marks improves accuracy on unfamiliar face matching tasks by 6%, showcasing the effectiveness of this novel approach. In just 6 minutes, this training accounts for approximately half of the experts' superiority on the task, indicating its efficiency and value in improving unfamiliar face recognition abilities.
