Inverse CeO2/CuO WGS catalysts: Influence of the presence of oxygen in the reactant mixture

A. Lopez Camara et al.

Summary: Different catalysts based on copper-ceria with doping of Mn or Zn were examined for the water-gas shift reaction. Doping with Mn or Zn enhances WGS performance, while the presence of small amounts of oxygen in the reaction mixture can promote CO conversion. The catalysts show potential for carrying out WGS and CO-PROX in a single step even in the presence of hydrogen and oxygen.

Ultra-low loading of iron oxide on Pt/Al2O3 for enhanced catalytic activity of CO oxidation at room temperature: A simple method for applications

Byeong Jun Cha et al.

Summary: Fe-oxide particles were deposited on Pt/Al2O3 via temperature regulated-chemical vapor deposition, enhancing the catalytic activity towards CO oxidation. Lower Fe-loading led to increased catalytic activity, attributed to boundary sites of Pt-Fe on Fe-Pt/Al2O3. The Fe-oxide-loaded Pt/Al2O3 showed high thermal stability and retained catalytic activity at room temperature even after exposure to high temperatures.

High dispersed Pd supported on CeO2 (100) for CO oxidation at low temperature

Xia Zhang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of different morphologies of CeO2 on the catalytic efficiency of Pd/CeO2, finding that rod-like CeO2 exhibited excellent performance when loaded with Pd in CO oxidation reaction. Moreover, the highly dispersed Pd on the surface of CeO2 was found to increase the concentration of Ce3+, activate lattice oxygen, and promote the generation of active centers, thereby enhancing the reaction activity.

Highly active and water tolerant Pt/MFe2O4 (M = Co and Ni) catalysts for low temperature CO oxidation

Meng-Ting Zhu et al.

Summary: Pt supported on CoFe2O4 and NiFe2O4 spinel oxides exhibited higher activity for low temperature CO oxidation compared to monometallic oxides. The interaction between Pt and the spinel oxide facilitated oxygen species activation and weakened CO adsorption strength on Pt atoms. These catalysts also showed excellent water tolerance, making them promising for practical applications.

One step closer to the low-temperature CO oxidation over non-noble CuO/CeO2 nanocatalyst: The effect of CuO loading

Thanh Son Cam et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of CuO/CeO2 nanocomposite catalysts were synthesized using the urea-nitrate combustion method, with different CuO loadings. The CuO loading significantly influenced the phase composition, crystallite size, specific surface area, and catalytic performance of the catalysts. Among them, CuO/CeO2-20 catalyst showed high catalytic activity and stability in CO oxidation at low reaction temperature. The synergistic effect of redox pairs and oxygen vacancies contributed to the enhanced catalytic activity of CuO/CeO2-20 catalyst. Further research on doping oxides of other rare-earth and transition metals may further improve the catalytic performance of CuO/CeO2-20 sample.
