Different chemical effect of hydrogen addition on soot formation in laminar coflow methane and ethylene diffusion flames

Yang Wang et al.

Summary: Previous studies have shown that adding hydrogen can have opposite effects on soot formation in methane and ethylene diffusion flames. The increase in H atom mole fraction in methane flames promotes soot formation, while the decrease in pyrene mole fraction in ethylene flames suppresses soot formation.

The coalescence of incipient soot clusters

Akaash Sharma et al.

Summary: Reactive molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the coalescence of incipient soot clusters. The structure and composition of the formed soot clusters were quantified, and the characteristic coalescence time was tracked at different temperatures. This approach provides significant insight into soot formation and growth mechanisms, facilitating a better understanding and control of soot in combustion processes.

Effects of CO/H2/N2 addition on the soot morphology and nanostructure in laminar co-flow ethylene diffusion flame

Qianqian Li et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of CO/H-2/N-2 addition on soot generated from a laminar co-flow ethylene diffusion flame. Results show that increasing proportions of the additives reduce soot production and N-2 is most effective in reducing soot yield. The addition of CO or N-2 can diminish primary particle diameter and fractal parameters.
