Role of surface engineering of hybrid structure for high performance quantum dots based photoelectrochemical hydrogen generation

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of a TiO2 hybrid structure with nanorods and nanoparticles, treated with hydrazine to enhance photoelectrochemical hydrogen generation. The optimized hybrid photoanode, sensitized with Quantum dots, achieved significantly higher photocurrent density. Further treatment with hydrazine led to additional enhancements, demonstrating a promising strategy for fabricating efficient and stable PEC water splitting devices for H-2 generation.

Summary: Erbium-doped graphene quantum dots (Er-GQDs) with up- and down-conversion fluorescence properties were successfully synthesized as nanosensing probes for highly selective and sensitive detection of Fe3+ ions. The Er-GQDs exhibited excellent analytical performance and superior selectivity over other metal ions and organic interferences in various environmental media. This study demonstrates the potential of using Er-GQDs for label-free detection of metal ions in environmental and biological samples.

Green carbon dots based ultraviolet photovoltaic window with high transparence to visible light

Summary: A new concept of ultraviolet photovoltaic window using carbon quantum dots as a light absorber is proposed, which can generate electricity without affecting indoor lighting and effectively block the entry of ultraviolet light. The amount of dopant and thickness of TiO2 film significantly influence the power conversion efficiency and transmittance of the photovoltaic window, with the best efficiency achieved at 0.614% and the best average visible transmittance at 37.2% among prepared photovoltaic windows. The construction of ultraviolet photovoltaic windows successfully opens up a new application of carbon quantum dots in building-integrated photovoltaics.

These enhancements result in a champion PCE of 20.53% with enhanced stability, making CQD-hybridized NiOx HTLs a promising candidate for efficient and stable planar p-i-n PSCs.
