A comparative study on the performance of a novel triangular solar air collector with tilted transparent cover plate

Summary: The novel triangular solar air collector (TSAC) proposed in this research utilizes a tilted transparent cover plate to improve heat collecting power and efficiency compared to the traditional flat plate solar air collector (FSAC) with the same south wall covered area. Results show that TSAC 60 degrees has a higher collecting power per unit covered area, faster efficiency increase with solar irradiance, and greater heat collection capacity and solar fraction during the heating period compared to FSAC.

Thermal stratification in a solar hot water storage tank with mantle heat exchanger

Summary: The thermal behavior of a novelty mantle solar water tank with vertical inlet and outlet water tubes has been investigated both experimentally and numerically. Dimensionless parameter can well characterize the stratification of water and thermocline dynamics in the water tank. In the discharging mode, as the dimensionless time increases, the thermocline thickness gradually increases, and the mixing in the water tank intensifies.

Summary: The paper conducted heat transfer analysis of a novel hybrid active greenhouse solar dryer and found that the dryer with evacuated tube collector showed significantly higher convective heat transfer coefficients and shorter drying times compared to the dryer without collector.
