Can a protophobic vector boson explain the ATOMKI anomaly?

Xilin Zhang et al.

Summary: In 2016, the ATOMKI collaboration observed an unexpected enhancement of e(+)-e(-) pair production signal in a Be-8 nuclear transition induced by a proton beam on a Li-7 target. This led to the proposal of a new particle explanation, but by deriving an isospin relation and comparing with measured photon production, it was found that this hypothesis cannot be validated by experimental observations.

Leading hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic moment from lattice QCD

Sz. Borsanyi et al.

Summary: The standard model of particle physics describes the majority of experiments and observations involving elementary particles, with a long-standing discrepancy concerning the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Ongoing experiments aim to reduce measurement errors, theoretically attributed to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution, to distinguish between experimental measurements and predictions. The developed methods using ab initio quantum chromodynamics and quantum electrodynamics simulations favor experimentally measured values over those obtained using dispersion methods, with potential for increased precision as computer technology advances.

X17: A new force, or evidence for a hard γ plus γ process?

Benjamin Koch

Summary: Investigation shows that the X17 puzzle cannot be completely explained by a nuclear decay chain and conversion into an electron-positron pair. The theoretical kinematics fit well with experimental results, but there is no explanation for the isospin structure of the signal.

Measurement of the Positive Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment to 0.46 ppm

B. Abi et al.

Summary: The experiment presented the first results of the Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) Muon g - 2 Experiment for the positive muon magnetic anomaly a(mu) (g(mu) - 2)/2, which determined the anomaly from precision measurements of two angular frequencies. The result showed a deviation of 3.3 standard deviations from the standard model prediction, in agreement with previous measurements, increasing the tension between experiment and theory.

New anomaly observed in 4He supports the existence of the hypothetical X17 particle

A. J. Krasznahorkay et al.

Summary: Angular correlation spectra of e(+)e(-) pairs produced in the H-3(p, e(+)e(-)) He-4 nuclear reaction have been studied, revealing an anomalous excess of pairs possibly explained by the creation and subsequent decay of a light particle during the direct capture process. The derived mass of the particle suggests it may be the previously suggested X17 particle for explaining anomalies observed in the decay of Be-8.

Signals of the QCD axion with mass of 17 MeV/c2: Nuclear transitions and light meson decays

Daniele S. M. Alves

Summary: The QCD axion remains experimentally viable in a specific mass range with certain properties, which can explain anomalies observed in nuclear deexcitations. These properties also naturally explain the absence of anomalous features in other measured transitions.

U boson interpolating between a generalized dark photon or dark Z, an axial boson, and an axionlike particle

Pierre Fayet

Summary: The passage discusses a light boson U from an extra U(1) and its interactions with various particles and fields, including dark matter and Z bosons. It also explores the concept of U(1)(F) symmetries and the role of BEH doublets in determining the charge of chiral quarks and leptons. Additionally, it mentions the enhanced interactions of a longitudinal U with axial couplings and its potential coupling strengths based on certain parameters.
