Intriguing photophysical aspects of nitro substituted 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl) benzothiazole (HBT) derivative: AIE in non-polar media?

Summary: The excited photophysics of the synthesized molecule BTNP were studied and it was found that BTNP exhibits exceptional Stokes shift in non-polar media but anion formation in polar solvents hampers the ESIPT process. Furthermore, the nitro substituent in BTNP reverses the conventional definitions of 'good solvent' and 'bad solvent'.

The selectivity was attributed to the interaction of DPPTP with HCl gas from photodecomposition product of chloroform.

Aggregation-induced Emission Properties of Triphenylamine Chalcone Compounds

Summary: Two triphenylamine chalcone derivatives were synthesized through specific reactions and exhibited good aggregation-induced emission behavior in ethanol/water mixtures. The solvent polarization affected the spectral properties of the compounds, and pi-pi stacking interaction in the solid state resulted in weak fluorescence emission. The fluorescence intensity of excited state intramolecular proton transfer molecules was unaffected by pH in an acidic environment but greatly reduced in an alkaline environment.

Synthesis and properties of an AIE fluorescent probe for Cu2+ detection based on ESIPT system
