Bayesian estimation of the specific shear and bulk viscosity of the quark-gluon plasma with additional flow harmonic observables

J. E. Parkkila et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the temperature dependence of the specific shear viscosity in the strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions is weaker than previously thought. To reproduce additional observables, lower values of specific bulk viscosity and higher switching temperatures are preferred. The analysis benefits the most from using symmetric cumulants and nonlinear flow modes to constrain the temperature dependence of specific shear and bulk viscosities.

Application of machine learning in the determination of impact parameter in the 132Sn + 124Sn system

Summary: Machine learning algorithms were used to analyze experimental data in this study, showing that the trained algorithms perform well under the same parameter set, but prediction error increases when different parameter sets are used.

Model independent reconstruction of impact parameter distributions for intermediate energy heavy ion collisions

J. D. Frankland et al.

Summary: A model independent method is presented for reconstructing impact parameter distributions of experimental data for intermediate energy heavy ion collisions, with application to a large dataset obtained by the INDRA multidetector since 1993. Mean impact parameters derived using this new method are significantly larger than those found when fluctuations are neglected, providing experimental constraints for transport models.

Relating Charged Particle Multiplicity to Impact Parameter in Heavy-Ion Collisions at NICA Energies

Petr Parfenov et al.

Summary: The size and evolution of matter created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are strongly influenced by collision geometry, specifically the impact parameter. In the absence of direct measurement of the impact parameter, the centrality determination procedure is used to infer it from final state observables. The performance of the centrality determination procedure for the Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) at the NICA collider is evaluated using the multiplicity of produced charged particles at midrapidity in simulated data for Au + Au collisions at root s(NN) = 4-11 GeV.

Bayesian analysis of heavy ion collisions with the heavy ion computational framework TRAJECTUM

Govert Nijs et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a model for heavy ion collisions called TRAJECTUM, which includes an expanded initial stage and a hydrodynamic stage. A Gaussian emulator is used to obtain Bayesian posterior estimates on the parameters, and these estimates are tested through closure tests and convergence studies. Finally, optimal parameter values are used to compare experimental data.

Multisystem Bayesian constraints on the transport coefficients of QCD matter

D. Everett et al.

Summary: By combining different modules, we studied the properties of strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma. Our research emphasizes the importance of validation process and the constraints and sensitivity of experimental data on the viscosity of quark-gluon plasma. We also explored the impact of different model parameters on observational results.
