Hard probes of non-equilibrium quark-gluon plasma

Sigtryggur Hauksson et al.

Summary: Jets and photons could be crucial in determining the transport coefficients of the quark-gluon plasma. By analyzing their interaction with a non-equilibrium quark-gluon plasma, new field-theoretical tools are used to derive two-point correlators that demonstrate the evolution of instabilities over time, allowing for the derivation of finite interaction rates with the medium. Additionally, it is shown that coherent, long-wavelength instability fields in the Abelian limit do not alter the rate of photon emission or jet-medium interaction.

Non-perturbative determination of collisional broadening and medium induced radiation in QCD plasmas

Guy D. Moore et al.

Summary: We provide results obtained from lattice EQCD with the correct UV limit to construct the collisional broadening kernel C(b(perpendicular to)) in a QCD plasma. We discuss the limiting behavior of C(b(perpendicular to)) at small and large impact parameters b(perpendicular to), and demonstrate how these results can be utilized to calculate medium-induced radiation rates.

Collective modes in anisotropic systems

Margaret E. Carrington et al.

Summary: In this study, collective modes in anisotropic plasmas of quarks and gluons were investigated using a quasiparticle picture and a hard-loop approximation. It was found that imaginary modes play a significant role in plasma dynamics and their dependence on chiral chemical potential and system anisotropy was explored. The research demonstrated that even a small chiral chemical potential can have a magnified influence in the presence of anisotropy.

Ab initio coupling of jets to collective flow in the opacity expansion approach

Andrey Sadofyev et al.

Summary: In this study, leading corrections to jet momentum broadening and medium-induced branching at first order in opacity were calculated. It was found that velocity effects lead to anisotropic transverse momentum diffusion and anisotropic medium-induced radiation emitted preferentially in the direction of the flow. The general expressions obtained can be directly coupled to hydrodynamic simulations to study the correlations between jet quenching and the dynamics of various forms of nuclear matter.

Probes of the quark-gluon plasma and plasma instabilities

Sigtryggur Hauksson et al.

Summary: The sensitivity of penetrating probes in heavy-ion collisions to the transport coefficients of quark-gluon plasma requires a detailed understanding of photon emission and jet-medium interaction in a nonequilibrium plasma. Accounting for the time evolution of an unstable plasma can cure spurious divergences when evaluating the rate of interaction of hard probes with the plasma. The exponential growth of gluon occupation density in an unstable plasma may suggest a phenomenological prescription where instability poles are subtracted. Additionally, instability fields do not seem to affect medium-induced photon emission in the Abelian case to the examined approximation level.
