Genotype-phenotype associations in Danish patients with ocular and oculocutaneous albinism

Line Kessel et al.

Summary: This study investigated genotype-phenotype associations in patients with albinism, finding that ocular developmental features were the most common findings, while phenotypic features related to pigmentation were less common. There were no phenotypic differences between different genetic subgroups of albinism, but patients with a pathogenic haplotype in TYR had less iris translucency compared to patients with two classic variants in TYR.

multimodal visualization of the human retinal pigment epithelial mosaic

Andrew J. Bower et al.

Summary: The study developed an imaging platform combining multimodal AO-SLO with AO-OCT to compare four different modalities for imaging RPE cells in the same eye. Consistent cellular structure information was obtained across modalities, with variations in RPE cell contrast explored in a subject-, location-, and even cell-dependent manner. The benefit of using multiple modalities to infer the cellular structure of the RPE mosaic in an affected eye was illustrated through multimodal imaging in a patient with choroideremia.

Genetic variation affects morphological retinal phenotypes extracted from UK Biobank optical coherence tomography images

Hannah Currant et al.

Summary: The study found that genetic factors do not directly link inner retinal thickness and glaucoma, but variants may have a closer relationship with thickness changes, which could be closer to disease indicators. Additionally, the study discovered that foveal hypoplasia presents in a mild form in the population and is influenced by genetic factors, affecting visual function.
