Water-assisted synthesis of lead-free Cu based fluorescent halide perovskite nanostructures

Hari Shankar et al.

Summary: In this study, lead-free perovskite nanostructures Cs2CuCl4, Cs2CuBr4, and Cs2CuBr2Cl2 were synthesized using non-toxic copper through a ligand assisted re-precipitation (LARP) synthesis route at room temperature. Water was used as a polar solvent to dissolve metal halide precursors rapidly. The mixed halide perovskite Cs2CuBr2Cl2NCs achieved a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 38% with blue luminescence in an aqueous medium for the first time.

Summary: This research developed a self-powered solar-blind ultraviolet (UV) photodetector using a dual-source vapor codeposition technique to prepare nontoxic copper halide Cs3Cu,I-5, which was integrated with a fi-Ga2O3 wafer to construct a type-II heterojunction. The device demonstrated a good solar-blind UV response property, low dark current, high rejection ratio, fast photoresponse speed, and high photo-to-dark current ratio. Furthermore, the photodetection ability of the device was maintained even after continuous working and storage in ambient air, indicating outstanding air stability.

Alloying a single and a double perovskite: a Cu+/2+ mixed-valence layered halide perovskite with strong optical absorption

Bridget A. Connor et al.

Summary: Introducing heterovalent cations can change the optoelectronic properties of halide perovskites, and utilizing the structural flexibility of two-dimensional perovskites allows for placing three distinct stoichiometric cations in octahedral sites. The new layered perovskite exhibits enhanced electronic conductivity due to intervalence charge transfer between mixed-valence Cu centers. This demonstrates the importance of increasing the compositional complexity of halide perovskites for improved properties such as enhanced visible light absorption.
