Sparse data inpainting for the recovery of Galactic-binary gravitational wave signals from gapped data

Aurore Blelly et al.

Summary: The forthcoming space-based observatory LISA will provide unprecedented information about Galactic binaries, but the presence of data gaps poses challenges to the detection of gravitational wave signals. In this study, we propose a non-parametric inpainting algorithm based on sparse representation to accurately estimate the gravitational imprint of Galactic binaries and produce statistically consistent estimates of ungapped noise.

Real-time Search for Compact Binary Mergers in Advanced LIGO and Virgo's Third Observing Run Using PyCBC Live

Tito Dal Canton et al.

Summary: The third observing run of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo yielded dozens of gravitational-wave candidates, many of which have been confirmed as confident detections. PyCBC Live, a low-latency search tool for compact binary mergers, underwent improvements after the second observing run and defined its operation and performance during the third observing run.

Heterodyned likelihood for rapid gravitational wave parameter inference

Neil J. Cornish

Summary: Inferring the source properties of a gravitational wave signal has traditionally been computationally intensive, but now computational cost can be significantly reduced using heterodyned likelihood technique, with savings between two and four orders of magnitude depending on the system.

Effect of data gaps on the detectability and parameter estimation of massive black hole binaries with LISA

Kallol Dey et al.

Summary: Researchers are studying the impact of data gaps on massive black hole binary signals in the LISA mission using advanced astrophysical models. They found that the effect of gaps due to regular maintenance of the spacecraft is negligible, except for systems that coalesce within such a gap. However, the impact of unscheduled gaps is likely to be more significant than that of scheduled ones.

Rapid and robust parameter inference for binary mergers

Neil J. Cornish

Summary: The detection rate for compact binary mergers has increased with the improvement in sensitivity of ground-based gravitational wave detectors. Automated low-latency algorithms are essential for timely alerts and follow-up observations. A new analysis method has been developed for robust parameter inference in a matter of minutes, addressing data quality issues such as glitches.

Exploring the Bayesian parameter estimation of binary black holes with LISA

Sylvain Marsat et al.

Summary: The space-based gravitational wave detector LISA will observe mergers of massive black hole systems and inspiralling stellar-origin binary systems. This study focuses on accelerating likelihood computations by using Fourier-domain response and simplified models, while emphasizing the importance of including higher harmonics for parameter estimation in both MBHBs and SBHBs.

Modeling compact binary signals and instrumental glitches in gravitational wave data

Katerina Chatziioannou et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new analysis method for gravitational wave data that simultaneously models the compact binary signal using templates and the instrumental glitches using sine-Gaussian wavelets. The proposed model for glitches is generic and can be applied to a wide range of glitch morphologies without special tuning, allowing for efficient separation of signals and glitches and downstream inference analyses.

BayesWave analysis pipeline in the era of gravitational wave observations

Neil J. Cornish et al.

Summary: BayesWave is an algorithm for analyzing gravitational wave transient signals through frame functions and trans-dimensional sampling, adapting the model complexity to data requirements. The flexibility of the algorithm allows for a variety of analyses, including reconstructing unmodeled signals, cross-checks for compact binaries, and separating coherent signals from incoherent instrumental noise transients.
