This study is the first evaluation of the relationship between kidney tubule biomarkers and brain imaging by MRI in patients with CKD, and it found that urine biomarker concentrations were not associated with brain MRI measures.
Key Points Urine biomarker concentrations reflecting kidney tubule injury and dysfunction were not associated with brain MRI measures. Higher eGFR was associated with lower total brain cerebral blood flow. This is the first evaluation of the relationship of kidney tubule biomarkers with brain imaging by MRI in patients with CKD.
