No differences in muscle protein synthesis rates following ingestion of wheat protein, milk protein, and their protein blend in healthy, young males

Philippe J. M. Pinckaers et al.

Summary: The study found that ingestion of 30 g milk protein, 30 g wheat protein, or a blend of 15 g wheat plus 15 g milk protein increases muscle protein synthesis rates in young males. Furthermore, there were no significant differences in muscle protein synthesis rates following the ingestion of 30 g milk protein compared to 30 g wheat protein or a blend of 15 g milk plus 15 g wheat protein in healthy, young males.

Gut Microbiota and Acute Diverticulitis: Role of Probiotics in Management of This Delicate Pathophysiological Balance

Andrea Piccioni et al.

Summary: This article discusses the clinical application of probiotics in patients with diverticular disease and acute diverticulitis, highlighting the importance of gut microbiota dysbiosis in the pathogenesis of these diseases. While data on the efficacy of probiotics for symptom management in diverticular disease is limited, recognizing the role of bacterial colonization in the pathogenesis of acute diverticulitis suggests the potential utility of probiotics in the treatment of these conditions.

Plant Proteins and Exercise: What Role Can Plant Proteins Have in Promoting Adaptations to Exercise?

Chad M. Kerksick et al.

Summary: With the increasing research and usage of plant protein sources, their potential in promoting muscle protein synthesis, enhancing exercise adaptations, and facilitating exercise recovery is being increasingly recognized, with some plant sources even comparable to animal protein sources. In exercising individuals, an appropriate dose of plant protein can stimulate muscle protein synthesis, improve exercise adaptations, and be as effective as animal protein.
