Identification of miRNA signatures and their therapeutic potentials in prostate cancer

Abdullah Karadag et al.

Summary: This study identified miR-125b-5p, miR-145-5p, and miR-221-3p as significantly reduced in prostate cancer patients compared to benign prostate hyperplasia patients, indicating their important role in prostate cancer development. Ectopic expression of these miRNAs inhibited cell proliferation, altered cell morphology, and affected the expression of various proteins involved in cancer progression, suggesting their potential as therapeutic targets against prostate cancer.

miR-148a, miR-152 and miR-200b promote prostate cancer metastasis by targeting DNMT1 and PTEN expression

Venhar Gurbuz et al.

Summary: The study explored the regulatory network of 'epi-miRNA-mRNA' in prostate cancer, revealing a potential negative association between overexpression of DNMT1 and decreased expression of PTEN. High levels of DNMT1 were found to be positively correlated with the aggressiveness of cancer and PSA, GS, and TNM staging.

Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Features and MCF-7

Giuseppe Garroni et al.

Summary: The exhausted medium from MCF-7 influences the behavior of hADSCs by increasing the expression of stemness-related genes, cell proliferation, and autophagy. Polyamines detectable in the MCF-7 exhausted medium may be related to the higher proliferation capability observed in hADSCs, suggesting a direct crosstalk between these molecules and the changes in stem cell potency.

MicroRNA miR-145-5p inhibits Phospholipase D 5 (PLD5) to downregulate cell proliferation and metastasis to mitigate prostate cancer

Juanni Liu et al.

Summary: Prostate cancer, a common malignant tumor in men, has a high mortality rate, especially in the metastatic stage. MiRNAs play a crucial role in PCa progression, with miR-145-5p and PLD5 being identified as important regulators of cell proliferation. The study revealed that upregulation of miR-145-5p can inhibit the oncogenic effects of PLD5 and suppress PCa cell proliferation and metastasis.
