Review of closed water loops with ore sorting and tailings valorisation for a more sustainable mining industry

Summary: Conservation and management of freshwater resources is a major challenge of this century, especially in mining where controlling water intake and effluents quantity and quality is crucial. Closed water loops require new water quality control methods, and geopolymerisation of tailings has potential for use in covering deposited tailings. Detecting and classifying ore types in mining has a significant impact on metal recovery and process water quality.
