Evaluating and selecting features via information theoretic lower bounds of feature inner correlations for high-dimensional data

Yishi Zhang et al.

Summary: Feature selection is crucial in fields leveraging big data, and this paper discusses information theoretic methods for feature selection. Two simple lower bounds for feature redundancy and complementarity are introduced, leading to the proposal of a new feature selection method that shows promising improvement in real-world datasets compared to existing methods.

GVES: machine learning model for identification of prognostic genes with a small dataset

Soohyun Ko et al.

Summary: In this paper, a machine learning model called GVES is introduced, which utilizes gene vectors to cluster samples and identify genes with prognostic value, improving the accuracy of cancer outcome prediction. GVES performs well in reducing the influence of sample size and outperforms existing machine learning methods on cancer datasets with a small number of samples.

Data augmentation for rolling bearing fault diagnosis using an enhanced few-shot Wasserstein auto-encoder with meta-learning

Zeyu Pei et al.

Summary: An enhanced few-shot Wasserstein auto-encoder (fs-WAE) is proposed to address the challenges of data acquisition and imbalance in intelligent fault diagnosis for rolling bearings. By enhancing the encoding capabilities and optimization functions, the fs-WAE demonstrates superior efficiency and resilience to imbalance when compared to other models in pattern recognition tasks.
