Comprehensive defect suppression in perovskite nanocrystals for high-efficiency light-emitting diodes

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, a one-dopant alloying strategy was employed to enhance electroluminescence efficiencies of metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) by reducing defect formation and enhancing charge carrier confinement. Surface-stabilizing agents and bromide vacancy healing agents were utilized to decrease defect density and improve carrier confinement, resulting in significant enhancement in performance.

Suppression of temperature quenching in perovskite nanocrystals for efficient and thermally stable light-emitting diodes

Mingming Liu et al.

Summary: Fluoride-treated CsPbBr3 nanocrystals exhibit near unity emission efficiency at temperatures up to 373 K, with constant decay kinetics. The treatment leads to surfaces rich in fluorine with wider energy gaps than the core, suppressing carrier trapping and improving thermal stability. Devices incorporating these nanocrystals show low turn-on voltage and high external quantum efficiency, with nearly 80% efficiency maintained at high temperatures, offering a promising pathway for high-performance light-emitting diodes based on perovskite nanostructures.

Band Gap Engineering toward Wavelength Tunable CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals for Achieving Rec. 2020 Displays

Qinggang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a facile strategy to prepare CsPbBr3 NCs with finely tunable emissions in the narrow range of 525-535 nm by establishing a CsPbBr3-Cs4PbBr6:Na Type II structure. The as-synthesized CsPbBr3 NCs exhibit an ideal emission at 525-535 nm with a narrow emission line width of 23 nm and a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 85%, making them a promising candidate for next-generation high-definition displays.

Confined Synthesis of Stable and Uniform CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals with High Quantum Yield up to 90% by High Temperature Solid-State Reaction

Qinggang Zhang et al.

Summary: By using a hard-template solid-state synthesis at high temperature, highly stable CsPbBr3 nanocrystals with a high PLQY of up to 93% and a narrow emission linewidth of 18 nm are successfully prepared. The confined growth of nanocrystals in the thermally stable and uniform pores of the mesoporous silica template is the key factor for achieving high PLQY and narrow emission, while the pre-hydrolysis sealing strategy contributes to exceptional stability. Additionally, the emission intensity of CsPbBr3/MS@SiO2 is 3.8 times higher than that of commercialized silicate green phosphor when encapsulated on the blue-chip with the same absorbance at 450 nm, making it an ideal emitter for display applications.

Recent Advances in Ligand Design and Engineering in Lead Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals

Katie Hills-Kimball et al.

Summary: Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals have superior optical and optoelectronic properties, but their strong ionic character and unstable ligand coverage make the system highly dynamic and susceptible to slight changes. The surface ligand shell is crucial throughout the lifetime of the nanocrystals. Recent advances have been made in engineering and understanding the roles of surface ligand shells in various stages of synthesis, processing, integration, and application of colloidal LHP nanocrystals.
