Summary: This study explored the catalytic activities of a series of simple and electronically tuneable cyclometalated Ru-II-NHC complexes, with slight modifications in the ligand backbone noted to tune the activities of these complexes. Among them, complex 2d exhibited the highest activity for coupling reactions between alcohols with low catalyst loading. Furthermore, complex 2d also effectively catalyzed the selective mono-N-methylation of various primary amines. The mechanism involves a borrowing hydrogen pathway, with Ru-H species playing a key role in the catalytic cycle.

This method shows superior activity with a broad substrate scope at a low catalyst loading and short reaction time, and is also successful in accessing various quinoline derivatives through the acceptorless dehydrogenation pathway.

Preparation of amidoxime modified porous organic polymer flowers for selective uranium recovery from seawater

Coordination with uranium(VI) in seawater was achieved through amidoxime groups acting as bidentate ligands, indicating the promise of acrylonitrile and amidoxime chemistry in developing new adsorbents for uranium(VI) removal.
